im designing the artwork for a new CD of my band. ive been painstakingly attempting to scan individual frames with my flatbed to incorporate into the artwork and cannot get them in focus enough to my liking. A I here in los angeles says theyll scan my super 8 film but want me to cut the frames out individually..... im hesitant to butcher my cherished film. i dont like the way the exported frames look like from my film to video transfers either.....the idea is to get that beautiful unadulterated look of a direct scan.im not sure there is an answer to my problem. i could cut a few frames out of the reel and have them scan that i suppose which wouldnt be so surgical an operation id imagine. i also dont know if when i re-connect the removed frames that they'll look ok when projected next time.....does splicing tape blur out the frame when projected....??

I recommend the Sony printer DPP-MS300.
Basically you run a video signal into the S-video input and it will make a 4 x 6 print for you at 303 x 303 lines.
That's how the images on this forum were made.
Once you are on the 4 x 6 you can then scan it into a computer and do with what you will.

thanks for this tip...... maybe this would be better than saving the frame directly from final cut as a quicktime jpeg i believe. i notice its only 72 dpi however so perhaps the sony is worth a try.its still been "videoized" though......i need to blow up the image and wanted more quality than 640x480. ill try to give the sony a whirl though

You'll probably find this printer on eBay, it was first made around 10 years ago and has been out of production for several years now.
You will also need a color cartridge which comes with a pack of print paper. Those items should also be available on ebay as well.
